About Us

The Maalim Seif Sharif Hamad Foundation is a Pan African think tank that seeks to promote democracy and its ideals and engage in programs that contribute to reconciliation, mutual respect, conflict resolution, peaceful co-existence, harmony and cooperation among people. The foundation is established in honour of the late Maalim Seif Sharif Hamad, leader of Zanzibar's and Tanzania’s democratic struggle who devoted his entire life to the promotion of democracy while in and out of government. The Foundation is thus established to carry on his legacy and to popularize his values and ideals aptly demonstrated throughout his political career.
